Concept It’s hard to form new habits. Make habits stick by using friendship and empathy. In Hot Mess users find friends, create challenges, and upload proof. If a user doesn't follow through there is a punishment...for their friend. This app is exciting because it allows users to directly impact their friend's lives. Other sites have users donate money to a charity they hate if they fail. What a waste! Each punishment is presented as an opportunity to "eat your vegetables" meaning they should be constructive but unenjoyable. Like doing an hour on the stair master...or maybe calling your talkative grandmother back.
My Design Process I personally tested this concept with a pact made with a friend of mine. Our challenge was 7 days long and successful. 2 weeks later she told me she continued her habit. I did competitor research and looked at 3 different sites. I made a user flow in lucid charts. I designed user personas in sketch. I enjoy working with pen and paper so sketching the wireframes and story boards was a blast. I put together the mock up and designed a splash page and some display material for behance.
